FAQ

.
I have never been to the North Shore Yoga Co-op.
Give yourself some extra driving time if you have never been to the co-op as we are a bit off the beaten path. Please arrive 10 minutes early to sign a waiver and talk to the teacher. Please tell the instructor that this is your first time at the Co-op, if you have any limitations, injuries, or are pregnant.

NOTE: You can fill out a waiver online HERE.

I am new to yoga.
For your first few classes, we recommend attending the any of the following: Yoga Basics, Hatha Yoga, Vinyasa 1, or Yin Iyengar & Restorative. You will receive better introduction, attention, and instruction that are needed to safely enter the other classes as well as the advanced classes. Let the teacher know that you are new to yoga; he/she will help you setup and will let you know what props are needed for the class (props are provided). Always tell your teacher if you have any limitations, injuries, or are pregnant. Reach out to us if you have any questions.

Do I need to pre-register?
No, you do not need to register for class in advance. However, we recommend arriving a few minutes before class to get set up.

Do I need to bring anything?
Please bring a yoga mat, towel, and bottle of water to class. We do have a limited number of mats to loan if needed. If you do borrow a mat, please come with clean feet and clean the mat after you use it. Mat cleaner is provided.

How much should I donate?
Class is not free. There is a suggested donation of $10 per class. Most other studios charge a flat rate of $15-$20 for a drop-in. Our teachers pay rent to teach each class just as you pay the teacher to take class. Without your donations, it is unsustainable for the teachers or the Co-Op to continue offering classes.

Where do my donations go?
Your donations go directly to your instructor. The teachers are dedicated to offering yoga to the North Shore community, and each instructor pays rent to teach at the co-op. This rent money pays for the co-op space rental, supplies, and management. Truly, the co-op is not possible without your support, especially in such a beautiful place as the north shore of Oahu.

Why should I donate?
Your donations are what keep us up and running and allow us as teachers to keep teaching. Without your donations, the co-op is unable to continue- operating a business, let alone on the north shore of Oahu, is not cheap. However, we want to make yoga affordable for EVERYBODY.

A donation is the sacred act of giving. We offer donation-based classes in exchange for the service of yoga teachings. So, that means you can let your heart and personal financial situation guide what you choose to contribute. If you are unable to make a donation in monetary form, please talk to the teacher; there are other options!
