ELIZA’S strong background in Astanga, Jivamukti, Tibetan Buddhist meditations and methods provide the technical background for her classes. The more abstract underpinnings of her approach are a deep curiosity about, and desire to make space for and “give voice to those raw, essential, heartbreaking, and life-giving places in us, so that we may know them more consciously, live what they teach us, and mine their wisdom for our life together.” *
Eliza synthesizes ancient yogic philosophy, meditation, and esoteric teachings in her classes, distilling heady concepts in a fun, approachable way. She is playful and creative in her sequencing, guiding radically scored, athletic, holistic asana. She is known to be direct, humorous, and sincere.
Eliza completed her first 200-hour yoga teacher training under the tutelage of Kelly Morris (Conquering Lion Yoga, NYC and findyourinfinity.com) in 2011. Eliza has continued to develop her knowledge and skill through workshops, retreats, and trainings ever since. She is a 300-hour certified Jivamukti Yoga teacher and a 500-hour RYT with Yoga Alliance. Eliza has completed over 1000 hours of training.
A former elementary school teacher and longtime garden volunteer for ‘Aina In Schools, Eliza has resided on Oahu since completing her undergraduate degree (B.A. DePauw University) in 2006. She has been farming food on the northshore since 2009. Eliza is an avid gardener, runner, surfer, and live-music enthusiast as well as teacher and student of yoga.
