JULIE (LMT, RYT 500, RPYT, AYS) has lived on the North Shore of Oahu since the early 80’s where she found her healthy lifestyle  to be not only supported, but encouraged. Being active and in tune with the natural rhythm of the earth and the tides was the norm on the North Shore. She became a Licensed Massage Therapist  and Hawaiian LomiLomi practitioner in 2004 on the Big Island Of Hawaii through Hawaii School Of Massage (Aunty Margaret Machado). As she developed her techniques in Bodywork, she became interested in the movement patterns of the body and mind that created restrictions and freedom. Being exposed to Yoga as a kid, but not too deeply, she started practicing Asana with more curiosity,. After a severe injury to her spine, in 2006 her interest in the practice of Yoga became a soul searching endeavor. As she says, Yoga found her just at the right time. The philosophy, the breathing and the self care helped her through 3 separate spine surgeries and countless physical tests.

Fast forward to 2008 she began her first 200 hour Hatha Yoga teacher training (Jenni Winterburn at Yoga Nook) just 2 months after her last Back surgery, which gave her the groundwork to begin a big life shift into herself. It took about  2 years of recovery from the surgeries, gaining strength and purpose in life, to be ready to deepen her practice. In 2010 she completed a 200 hour Vinyasa teacher training right here on the north shore of Oahu  through True Union Yoga under 4 amazing teachers  (Kate Baldwin, Lilly Berrens, Collette Cameron and Steve Ross *Maha Yoga ) After her completion of this training she allowed herself time to absorb the teachings by practicing and growing an intentional life.

She  started to step into the role of Teacher by apprenticing under Mara Pike at the North Shore Yoga Co-Op in 2012.  She officially began teaching Prenatal Yoga in 2013,  and  went on to become a Yoga Alliance Registered Prenatal Yoga Teacher  (RPYT) through Nine Moons Yoga (Candice Garrett) the same year. Every training led her into a deeper and deeper desire to learn more. With her background in the healing art of Massage, she fell in love with the sister science to yoga and began her journey into Ayurveda. She is certified as an Ayruvedic Yoga Specialist  (AYS) , completing this certification in 2014 here on Oahu at Open Space Yoga through the Himalayan Institute  (Katherine Templeton)  (Julie’s studies continue in Ayurveda through Cate Stallman). In 2015  she had the privilege to go to Maui and stay on the North Shore completing her 500 hour Yoga Alliance teacher requirements through Maya Yoga  (Eddie Modestini and Nicki Doane). With a strong foundation her yogic  life and lifestyle continue to evolve along with her own practice as a reflection of her dedication.
She loves spending quiet time out on the trails with her dog and her horse or on a bike ride with her son and family, or out on or in the water as much as they can. Her teaching style is grounded in alignment of the body, the mind and spirit whether it be on or off of the mat. The EXPERIENCE of yoga is what she loves to share, to encourage and to live, which resonates through her caring nature.
