Sheila started practicing yoga in 2003 while she was in college. She took a yoga class out of sheer interested in ‘seeing what it was all about.’ She was quickly hooked on both the way the practice had her physically feeling and this newfound avenue into her own spirituality.
Sheila’s yoga practice became more of a lifestyle when she moved to Hawaii in 2006 and she started practicing Ashtanga Yoga regularly with Bhavani Maki at Yoga Hanalei. Over the years Sheila has taken many yoga trainings, workshops, and self studies including the yoga philosophy course with Dave Druz here on the North Shore. Sheila completed a 200hr teacher teaching through yoga alliance at Yandara Yoga in 2012. Her teaching style brings power, music, and grace.
Sheila also holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Global Studies from UCSB as well as a Masters Degree in Education and Teaching from UH Manoa. As a teacher, Sheila enjoys building each class – integrating philosophy and multiple aspects of the practice tactfully into 1hr and 15mins. Sheila works in various elementary schools on the island and is passionate about connecting kids to nature and helping them discover their true selves.
